Learn about the art of burlesque and gain body confidence while having fun, toning and exercising

Classes
Burlesque is a gentle, elegant form of exercise. It is not high-impact aerobics…nor is it stripping. You do not need to be a dancer or a particular shape or size. We mostly cover the glamorous American pin-up style of Burlesque.

Our aims are to:

  • Improve your posture
  • Help you feel more confident and sensual
  • Tone your body
  • Improve your confidence
  • Allow you to make the most of yourself
  • Teach you about the art of Burlesque
  • Be fun!

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU HAVE GOT… IT’S HOW YOU USE IT!

Please make sure you wear comfortable unrestrictive clothing and preferably shoes with a small heel (trainers are unsuitable). Consult your doctor before Burlesquercising if you are pregnant or suffer from back, heart or breathing problems. Please remain hydrated throughout.

Classes involve:

  • Bump and Grind warm-up
  • How to shimmy and shake
  • Pin-up floorwork
  • Posture and posing basics
  • "The walk"
  • Cooldown

Over the weeks, we will also include a variety of techniques like peeling with a glove, pin-up dance moves, cheesecake style, working with a chair, using a feather boa, fan dancing and others. We will produce mini-routines and you will even come up with your own Burlesque name! There will be social events and trips to see burlesque shows…including ‘The Slippery Belle Burlesque experience’.

If you attend regularly you can work your way up and be awarded your white, then pink then finally your red garter.
